When art meets nature | Waldfrieden Sculpture Park A former industrial villa with a huge park in the Hesselnberg area of Barmen: once the home of a Wuppertal paint manufacturer, it is now the site of Waldfrieden Sculpture Park, which captivates with a landscape full of artworks and temporary exhibitions.
Viewing art from a different perspective
Experience modern and contemporary exhibits surrounded by nature. A wide landscape and sculptures everywhere, which have been placed in the environment in such a way that visitors have a clear view of the artworks. The whole park by English sculptor Tony Cragg comprises an impressive 14 hectares. The exhibits include not only his works, but also other pieces by renowned artists of the modern age.
It’s well worth a visit to this unique tourist destination at any time of year. The sculptures are presented in a different light and in a different natural setting depending on the weather. Temporary exhibitions and concerts are also held all year round in a glass pavilion. During the summer months, open-air concerts are also held in the magical surroundings of the park. The park’s Café Podest with its beer garden is available if you’d like a short rest.
The two-storey “Villa Waldfrieden” from the post-war period is a listed building and is home to the archive and administrative offices. It can be visited as part of private tours or booked for exclusive events.
