Enchanting Christmas Atmosphere at Grünewald castle!
This year, the Christmas market at Grünewald Castle is opening its gates for the 19th time on the Advent weekends. Over 100 carefully selected exhibitors present their self-made artworks, handicrafts, and creations from the fields of modern design and historical craftsmanship in the castle's historic park grounds.
The visitors can expect a very special atmosphere: The completely illuminated parkland with over 1,500 meters of fairy lights, torches, and fire baskets along the paths turns the twilight into a true fairy-tale world. Additionally, there are atmospheric decorations, illuminated flag installations, and further illuminations that give the historic site a very special magic and invite visitors to stroll around comfortably.
Besides the numerous stalls with handicrafts, jewelry, textiles, toys, and many other surprises, the Advent Dream offers a diverse program for the whole family. Children can write down their secret wishes in the hut of the Wish List Fairy in the middle of the forest and blow them into the night sky with moon dust, help bake gingerbread houses with the witches, or participate in the medieval mouse roulette. The program is complemented by charming walk-acts and musical performances.
The discerning gastronomy, such as Alsatian flammkuchen, raclette, smoked salmon, mulled wine, Grünewald egg punch, and Kaiserschmarrn, emanates an aroma that captivates almost every visitor and leaves no wishes unfulfilled.
Sustainability is a priority at the Grünewald Advent Dream. We pay special attention to regionality in the selection of exhibitors and primarily support small manufacturers, family-run businesses, and start-ups. At our in-house mulled wine stands, we use hand-thrown drinking mugs that have been accompanying us for many years and do not need to be replaced - handicrafts are very durable! Overall, the concept of sustainability is deeply rooted at Grünewald Castle. Whether it's the decoration, infrastructure (e.g., signposts), or the exhibitors' huts - we rely on what we already have, avoiding the need to buy and discard new things every year.
