It is a small world unto itself that unfolds during the Advent season in the Siegburg marketplace below the Michaelsberg. More than ten dozen craftsmen, musicians, jesters, and well-traveled merchants, dressed as people from the late Middle Ages, enchant visitors between authentically recreated market stalls. Torches, fire pits, oil lamps, and candles bathe the tent city in mystical light as darkness falls. The palate is treated to delicacies such as flame-grilled salmon, Spätzle, chestnuts, and wild boar sausage. Mulled wine, mead, and oriental mocha are just a selection of beverages that accompany the culinary delights. The sounds of drums and bagpipes fill the air, minstrels and jugglers demonstrate their skills, and jesters entertain visitors with their antics. Blacksmiths, leather cutters, rope makers, felters, broom makers, and more revive long-forgotten or scarcely practiced crafts. There are unique gifts like handmade natural soaps, healing gemstones, and leather-bound journals. The fortune teller reveals what the future holds. With games and fun, children are given a glimpse into the fascinating world of the Middle Ages. A special attraction that brings a sparkle to children's eyes is the historical carousel, which is still operated by hand and invites joyful rides. An experience for young and old and for all the senses in the heart of Siegburg. Opening hours on Totensonntag, 24.11.24: 6-8 PM (without music/cultural program)
