As soon as the beautiful forest paths above Herchen are deserted, the first roofs of Stromberg rise after crossing some meadows. Back to Sieg, there are some centuries-old oak trees on its banks. Cormorants also go fishing here and make themselves comfortable in the trees. Into the “Wälder auf dem Leuscheid” nature reserve, which is one of the most beautiful and largest forest areas in North Rhine-Westphalia. In the beech-oak forest you reach a mountaintop with a ring wall that is over 1000 years old on a long forest path through the Kesselbachtal. There is a seating area where you can take a break. We continue alternating between paths and wider paths, crossing a beautiful stream meadow to the “Studchen” with a cozy rest area and a view. Afterwards, narrow paths take you to a beautiful spring that is said to have healing properties. The last part to Herchen you hike on natural trails that wind through sparse deciduous forest.
