BEAUTIFUL, GREEN AND IMPRESSIVE: WUPPERTAL ZOO DISTRICT
Magnificent buildings as far as the eye can see!
On the way to Wuppertal’s Grüner Zoo, to get onto the Sambatrasse or simply just for a leisurely stroll – the Wuppertal zoo district is always worth a visit. It was planned as a mansion district in an exclusive location and built between 1893 and 1914. Magnificent mansions, double mansions and apartment buildings were constructed here in the zoo district, far away from the city’s industrial areas at the time. As planning took place in several construction phases, the buildings display clear stylistic differences. However, they are all so magnificent you can’t help but be blown away!
Simply magical: the Fairy Tale Fountain
The Fairy Tale Fountain from 1897 is a key focal point. The enchantingly designed figures made from cast zinc by sculptor Wilhelm Albermann present scenes from Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella.
