The "Villa Gauhe" was built in 1878 by the Eitorfer textile manufacturer Julius Gauhe. As the owner of several companies and patents, Julius Gauhe was a wealthy, but also generous and socially-minded man and, as a patron of the arts, shaped the life of the Eitorfer community. He had many talents and was one of the planners of the 1889 World Exhibition in Paris. Today, the villa serves as a home for people with disabilities.
