The bridge was built in 1946 as part of a neighbourhood initiative by local residents using parts that could be organised at the time, e.g. the wire ropes come from an old cable car. The bridge is located on the L 333 between the town centre and the village of Alzenbach. As a pedestrian bridge over the Sieg, it connects the districts of Alzenbach and Halft.
