Eine von vielen Talsperren im Bergischen - die Brucher Talsperre
On hot days, the various swimming spots at the Brucher valley reservoir beckon:
- at the sailing club
- at the DLRG (German Life Saving Society) station
- at the reservoir wall
- at the campsite
The swimming spots are marked in the attached download.
The Brucher valley reservoir is close to the source of the Wupper and was built from 1912 to 1913. 3.37 million cubic metres of water are needed to fill it. The water basin has a surface area of 47.4 hectares.
Crayfish in the Brucher valley reservoir
Crayfish, our indigenous river crabs, used to be widespread throughout the many streams of the Bergisches Land. Today, they are threatened by invasive crab species, who transmit a harmful fungal disease. But they are still to be found in the Brucher valley reservoir! The crabs are nocturnal and can only be seen in darkness.
